Printing
You are welcome to print a copy of the book:
- A version of the book formatted for printing (PDF, 6.5 MB)
- The cover photograph (PDF, 30.8 MB, small version shown above)
- The binding label (PDF, 1.6 MB)
- The section tab labels (PDF, 12 KB)
You are also welcome to take the recipes and include them in your own recipe books (as long as they are non-commercial, and attribution is given by mentioning a recipe's provenance.).
Colophon
The browser-readable versions of these recipes also describe the recipes in a computer friendly (XHTML) format. To generate the print version, these were translated using an XSL stylesheet (and this Makefile) into LaTeX files. Contact me and I might be able to help translate the recipes into the format you need.
Supplemental LaTeX input files (not derived from the XHTML files) include:
- book.tex - The top-level LaTeX file, which pulls in all the recipes and other files
- preamble.tex - Misc. LaTeX commands and packages
- setup.tex - LaTeX commands used by XSL
- frontmatter.tex - Book boilerplate: the half-title, title, and copyright pages
- epigraph.tex - Content after the boilerplate, and before the TOC (a photo in our case)
- preface.tex - The dedication (not derived directly from the HTML)
- bio.tex - The biography (not derived directly from the HTML)
The recipes are annotated to support LaTeX's indexing system, makeindex. A combination of an XSL stylesheet and a Perl rewrite of makeindex was used (with this Makefile) to generate the index of the web-readable version.
